Owner & Yoga Teacher
Amy Creighton Power
Amy first began her teaching journey with a 200hr RYTT with Mothership School of Yoga. She has not stopped her own training since the journey with Mothership! She is certified in Restorative Yoga (Andrea Peloso), Trauma Informed Yoga (Yoga for Humankind), Pre/Post Natal Yoga (Mothership), Yin Yoga (Bernie Clarke & Mothership), Meditation (Tracee Stanley), an additional 200hr training with the Awakening Yoga Academy, Smart Flow Yoga 1 & 2 with Annie Carpenter, a 300hr with Noah Maze and is currently completing a 500hr training with the AYA. Additionally Amy continues to mentor with Carling Harps & Patrick Beach.

Amy's personal practice for many, many years was Ashtanga Yoga. Breaking away from the lineage she found her current passion in creative Vinyasa Flow. She also has a deep passion for Yin and Restorative Yoga. She embodies the elements of fire and water and employs them in her teaching,
Amy believes that having a strong foundation rooted in a personal practice is integral to becoming a skilled yoga teacher. Once we embody the yoga practice, it paves the way to a clearer understanding of what it is that we are sharing. This includes the study of philosophy, practice of meditation, pranayama and asana.

Amy encourages her students to deepen their own connection to what Yoga means to them, to become connected to the practice of Yoga both on and off of the mat and to remember that the practice of Yoga is multilayered and multifaceted, Once a student of Yoga, always a student of Yoga.

Amy wishes all students to find themselves on this beautiful journey in a joyful and curious way!

Amy also co-runs a yoga teacher training school with Valerie Giles: Elemental School of Yoga!
(zen) Sitting Circle Facilitator
Jay Hodgson
Jay took jukai (formal vows) in the Linxi-Yixuan school of Zen Buddhism, in fall of 2015, after 15 years of informal urban-hermitage practice. Jay has sat for many sesshins, often as tenzo, at zendos both local and afar, and has worked through the koan curriculum with a roshi and sensei certified in the Sanbo-Kyodan lineage. This all said, Jay is sure that all this lineage stuff is for politicans and, sadly, all too often predators! He is eager to facilitate a no-BS sitting circle here at Fire and Water, where practitioners can learn and practice the ancient art — and it is an art! — of sitting.

More about Jay:

Jay has taught songwriting and record production at Western University since 2006. He has instructed Juno and Grammy award winning artists, gold and platinum certified Top 40 songwriters, audio engineers, mix engineers and record producers. He is a thrice-Juno-nominated and Edison Award winning mastering engineer.

He is a mad Pride advocate, publicly exploring his struggles and challenges as a neurodivergent collage and recording artist in a neurotypical world, with gallery showings in Manhattan, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur, and more. He currently serves as the Hear Here! Chair of London’s Forest City Gallery, Canada’s first artist-run art space.
